Coaching Reunion Weekend

A Time for Connection

Each winter, at the beginning of the new year, we come together as a community for a relaxed weekend of reconnection, renewal and growth. James Flaherty develops new material specifically for the Coaching Reunion Weekend; he also coducts an optional six-month teleclass afterwards for people that want to continue study on the topic.

Each workshop includes time for socializing and sharing as well as learning and study on the new coaching topic. These annual retreats have become pilgrimages for a few of our longest-term students; each year brings old friends together and introduces them to newer members of our learning community as well.

This Year's Coaching Reunion Weekend

TIME, MEANING, AND BELONGING
Establishing our place beyond speed, competition and fear

The forces pressing on us in our everyday life are mighty. Even with the best of organizational expertise, skilled use of the latest technology, and strong intelligence, we often find ourselves behind—struggling to keep up with our relationships, families, careers, commitments and development. Worse, we frequently lose track of what’s most important to us and even of our own grounding. And the people around us seem to be in the same condition. So how do we break free?

What We’re Up Against

The subtitle of our workshop specifies the forces working on us. We feel pulled into a swirl of speed with situations, projects and processes that are moving faster and faster.

Competition on a worldwide scale gnaws on us in unparalleled ways. It seems that we have to keep proving ourselves in order to survive at work. Besides career, there is the immense pressure of competition in personal arenas as well, since we are driven to think we must always be in every way getting better and better.

Perhaps underlying all of this is the pervasive fear in our world today. Where is there safety? What can we count on?

You can easily see these factors at work in your own life and can certainly observe it in the lives of the people around you. As coaches both these domains are our concern.

How We Will Take This On

To meet these huge forces we need a deep transformational intervention. The title of the workshop tells you the territory that we will enter, explore and become more skillful in.

Many of us are harried and bullied by time because, among other reasons, we have never studied it directly. Time is simultaneously mysterious, vast, and intimate to our every breath. It holds us and supports us and never, in fact, runs out.

Meaning is the nurturance our deepest core, our soul, longs for. No amount of success, adulation from others or financial reward can replace our primordial requirement to have who we are and what we do have meaning for us. When buoyed by meaning we have limitless reserves of courage, creativity and stamina.

When we fully land in and totally occupy where we belong in the world we release immense amounts of tension and holding and defensiveness that we were not even aware of it until we feel it drop away. Our confidence and serenity become boundless.

Sincerely working at this depth can provide for us all that we need to meet the challenges of speed, competition, and fear.

PURPOSE
You establish a new relationship with time so that your life is saturated with meaning and you live from a deep sense of belonging.

INTENDED OUTCOMES
