Marc Davidson
I am an executive coach with more than 25 years of management experience, including the last 10 years at the level of Vice-President, and 9 years of experience in Professional Coaching and Consulting. I retired from Bell Canada in 2002 and have been coaching professionally since 2003. Typical clients have been at the Director level in large organizations, as well as entrepreneurs seeking to establish or expand their business. I have successfully coached clients from Bell Canada, MDS Nordion, Nestle, the Bank of Canada, Canadian Blood Services and the Federal Government in areas such as communications skills, team building, delegation, time management, negotiating, conflict management, personal vision, finding new work, managing a personal, professional or career transition. IÍve successfully coached Queens MBA students over the last two year in areas such as presentation skills, time management, conflict resolution, career planning and development
I am particularly well suited for coaching managers and executives in light of my 26 years of experience working in the Bell Canada organization, in a variety of executive and senior management positions. I led small swat teams engaged in Business Development, Corporate Development, Strategic Planning, and Alliance Management. I led large teams engaged in Product Management, Business Decision Support and International Marketing. I also led culture change and leadership development initiatives.
I bring a unique blend of on-the-field management and leadership experience along with the skills and attributes needed to be a coach: deep listening skills, ability to build trust, ability to assess whatÍs going on and design powerful coaching programs to address both short-term challenges and long-term excellent performance.
I also offer coaching and other customized learning or change management programs to work teams, to enable them to develop coaching competencies, enhance leadership and collaboration skills, or to enact changes in working climate and culture. For example, I developed and delivered a program to a consulting company to enable team members to transform their culture and identity from that of Subject Matter Experts to Trusted Advisors. I have also worked with other teams to assist in the development of Vision, Mission, Values, strategy and business plan for the short to medium term.
I received my professional coaching designation from New Ventures West in May 2003. I received the PCC (Professional Certified Coach) from the International Coach Federation (ICF) in January 2012. The coaching approach I use is known as Integral Development Coaching, meaning that when working with a client, I take a developmental approach as well as a broad and holistic approach: exploring with the client the cognitive level, the capacity level, the conversational level and the systems or structural level. I have also been certified by the Enneagram Institute to lead team based interventions using the 9 Domains approach that has been developed by that organization.
I received both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. During the course of my career, I have had to make the transition from a subject matter expert to a more broadly based manager and leader and IÍve successfully coached a number of individuals faced with a similar challenge.
