Joanie Twersky
My 20+ year career has spanned leadership roles across multiple sectors, including tech, economic development, nonprofits and film. Today, as an executive and integral coach, I draw on this breadth of experience to bring a unique blend of industry insight, coaching methodology, and storytelling to each engagement. Prior to coaching, I led teams at AT&T and Calix, where I mentored professionals at various stages of their careers. I earned a reputation for placing bold bets on unconventional candidates and fiercely investing in my team’s well-being. While at Calix, I founded the first employee resource group for working parents during the pandemic. As a board member and Head of Speaker Coaching for TEDxAtlanta, I worked with inventors, academics, and social entrepreneurs to transform powerful ideas into compelling talks that moved audiences. In 2024, I reached a career inflection point. Shortly after a promotion, I realized that what I’d poured my energy into achieving was no longer enriching my life. In a moment that felt like stepping off a ledge into an abyss, I released myself from a successful career to create long-overdue white space to design my next chapter. Following a three-month sabbatical, I decided to focus more fully on my favorite aspect of professional life, transformative 1:1 connection. In 2025, I launched Drumbeat Coaching LLC to help experienced leaders find — and follow — their own unique rhythms in work and life. To deepen my capacity beyond lived professional experience, I pursued Integral (whole person) Coaching® certification through New Ventures West, an ICF-accredited program. Grounding my executive coaching in integral methodology is a cornerstone of my practice, enabling sustainable change at depth — not just surface-level symptom management. While I still draw on my leadership background, I orient first and foremost to the client in front of me. I never assume that my experience of the world is yours. Outside of coaching, I'm an active member of the Atlanta community where you can find me singing off-key, co-parenting a seven-year-old breakdancer with my soulmate, and learning to dance in the occasional Bollywood performance. I'm a LEAD Atlanta 2017 graduate, a Georgia State University 40 Under 40 honoree, and a 2018 finalist for the Technology Association of Georgia's Technologist of the Year. I hold an MBA from Georgia State University and a BA in Cultural Anthropology from The George Washington University.
